READING 2 KINGS 4:38-41
There was a famine in Gilgal. Prophets met with Elisha and he ordered stew to be made. One of the prophets went out to the fields to gather herbs and found a wild vine. The prophets made stew but they could not eat it. The stew could not be eaten maybe because it was bitter, poisonous, could make the prophets sick or kill them. The prophets said that there was death in the pot. Elisha ordered flour to be added to the stew and there was nothing harmful in the pot anymore.
Lesson:
- Sometimes we get or allow things in our lives that are harmful to us. They can get us sick or cause death in our lives
- Only Jesus can save us from dangerous things and events
- Only the blood of Jesus can protect us, clean us from our sins, and give us eternal life
- Only the name of Jesus can heal us from all our sickness, pain, bitterness, etc
- If the the prophets did not obey Elisha, they could not eat the stew. Likewise, if we don’t obey God, we will remain the same and die in sin and finally miss eternal life
- When Jesus comes to our lives, he changes our sinful nature to a living sacrifice to glorify Him
- God can make us useful despite of our weaknesses or backgounds so that when people come to us they see Jesus in us
- There are so many wild vines in the world today. If we are not careful, we can gather the wrong vines that can cause death in our lives, careers, families and destiny. We should be careful where we go, what we do, and what we feed our minds, hearts, and souls
Conclusion:
- Let us obey God
- Let us be careful with what we feed on in our lives
- Let us accept Jesus our healer, He is the Way, the Truth, and Life
God bless you!
