READINGS 2 KINGS 5:1-14 (NIV)

Naaman was a commander in the army of the king of Aram.  He was a great man in sight of his master.  Through him, the Lord had given him victory to Aram. Naaman was a valiant soldier but he had leprosy.  Bands of raiders from Aram had taken captive a youth girl from Israel who served Naaman’s wife.  The girl told Naaman’s wife about prophet Elisha who could help Naaman to get well.  Naaman was given a letter to take to the king of Israel.  The king tore his clothes because the letter said that he should cure Naaman’s leprosy.  When Elisha heard about the king taring his clothes, he requested Naaman to be sent to him. When Naaman went to the door of Elisha’s house, Elisha sent a message to him to go and wash himself seven times at river Jordan.  Naaman was angry because he thought Elisha would lay his hands on him and get well.  Naaman’s servants encouraged him to obey and when he washed at river Jordan, he was healed.

Lesson:

  • Like Naaman, we could be famous, or have everything we need in life but without Jesus, we are sick in sin
  • If Naaman did not obey to wash at river Jordan, he could not be cured.  Likewise, if we don’t believe in Jesus, we shall not be forgiven our sins
  • Word from the lord can make things happen.  Elisha, man of God just sent a message to Naaman to wash at river Jordan and when he obey, he was healed.
  • Sometimes God can send us to unusual places or ask us to do unusual things because that is where our victory, healing, or blessings will come from.  Therefore, we should obey God even when things look unrealistic to us.  If Naaman went to wash in Abana and Pharphar, the rivers of Damascus, he could not be healed because his healing was at river Jordan.
  • Like the slave girl, we should share good news about Jesus so that others can know Him

Conclusion:

  • Let us accept Jesus as our Lord and savior and our sins shall be forgiven
  • Let us obey God so that we can receive our healing, blessings, and all that we need in life
  • God knows what is best for us.  When we follow his instructions, we shall receive what we need
  • Let us spread good news of Jesus Christ wherever we are and in whatever we are doing

God bless you always.
